Seventeen motivated and enthusiastic young Iraqi participants and coaches have arrived in Hiroshima, Japan, for Workshop III of the 2019 UNITAR Hiroshima Empowering Social Entrepreneurs and Youth Leaders for Iraq. Participants arrived in Tokyo last Sunday and paid a courtesy call to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 2 December. Ms. Aya Yoshida, Director, and Mr. Tetsuya Iawasaki, Deputy Director, from the Global Issues Cooperation Divisions, International Cooperation Bureau spoke with the participants. She appreciated the programme and encouraged participants to be the next generation leaders in Iraq.

Building upon Workshop II held in Istanbul, in late October, Workshop III focuses on key themes including Marketing, Communication, Growth Strategies, Networking, Funding Strategies, Budgets, and preparing Pitch Deck, which are parts of the revamped entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship modules.

Participants listened to the story of Hiroshima through several sessions on Hiroshima’s path to reconstruction, attended study tours to the Peace Memorial Park and Peace Memorial Museum, and met with Hibakusha (Atomic Bomb survivors) and people in Hiroshima.
